This is a redesign of the memorial for astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus at Montreal's planetarium. Inspired by his revolutionary theory that the planets are actually the ones rotating around the Sun, this sculpture represents the planets around the Sun within our galaxy. The only sphere attached to the base – vaguely shaped like the Milky Way – is the Sun, and all the other spheres represent five planets closest to the Sun, and are attached to curved metal rods representing the trajectory of the planets.

The steel metal rods and wood spheres and base are bent and shaped manually. The whole sculpture is spray painted in a metallic finish to show what the real memorial would look like.
